Cohort5102 ("Cohort5102," "we," "us," or "our") operates a marketplace platform that connects credentialed K–12 teachers with homeschooling families to form small, recurring learning pods (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
Name, email address, phone number, and billing/payment information
Home address or general location (for matching with local pods and instructors)
Information about your child(ren) provided for pod-matching purposes, such as first name, age or grade level, and general learning preferences or needs
Messages, reviews, and other content you submit through the Service
Enrollment requests and acknowledgment records related to teacher credential review
Name, email address, phone number, and payment/payout information
Professional credential information (e.g., teaching certifications, degrees, subject endorsements) that you choose to share with families through the Service
Pod and course information you create (subjects, schedule, pricing, pod size)
Messages and other content you submit through the Service
Important note on children's information: Children do not create accounts on Cohort5102 and do not directly access or use the Service. Any information about a child is provided by that child's parent or guardian solely for the purpose of pod matching and enrollment. See "Children's Privacy (COPPA)" below.
When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:
Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, and timestamps
Log data: access times, referring/exit pages, and error logs
Approximate location: derived from IP address, for the purpose of matching families and teachers within relevant service areas
Cookies and similar technologies: see "Cookies and Tracking" below
We do not control, and this section does not cover, any data collected by third-party video, conferencing, or teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) that a teacher independently chooses to use for live instruction. Those platforms have their own privacy policies, which parents and teachers should review directly.
We use the information we collect to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including matching parents with teachers and pods
Facilitate enrollment requests, teacher acceptance, and communications between parents and teachers
Process payments and payouts
Send administrative communications, including account, billing, and policy update notices
Respond to customer support requests
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
Comply with legal obligations
With your consent or as otherwise permitted by law, send marketing communications (which you may opt out of at any time)
Cohort5102 does not select, direct, verify, or endorse any teacher's credentials or curriculum. Consistent with our "Cohort5102 enables, parents confirm" model, parents are responsible for independently confirming a teacher's credentials, and parents and teachers are responsible for agreeing on curriculum and instructional platform directly.
Cohort5102 may use artificial intelligence or automated tools to support features such as:
Suggesting or ranking potential teacher-family matches based on stated preferences, location, and availability
Assisting with drafting or organizing platform content (e.g., listing descriptions)
Detecting fraudulent, abusive, or policy-violating content or behavior
How this affects your information: Information you provide (such as pod preferences, subject needs, or messages) may be processed by AI models — including third-party AI providers — to generate these suggestions or outputs. We do not use content from private family-teacher messages to train publicly available AI models.
AI-generated matches and suggestions are informational only. Cohort5102 does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content, and final decisions about enrollment, curriculum, and instruction remain with parents and teachers.
We share information in the following circumstances:
Between parents and teachers: to facilitate matching, enrollment, and communication, we share relevant profile, credential, and pod information between parents and teachers as needed for the Service to function
Service providers: vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, hosting, analytics, customer support, and communications tools, under contractual confidentiality and data-use restrictions
Legal and safety reasons: to comply with applicable law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Cohort5102, our users, or others
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard notice requirements
With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection
We do not sell personal information for money.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These may include encryption in transit, access controls, and routine security review of our systems and vendors.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We maintain a written information security program covering our handling of personal information, including any information relating to children collected through parents.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type:
Account and profile information: retained while your account is active, and for a limited period after closure for legal and operational purposes
Payment records: retained as required by applicable tax and financial recordkeeping law
Information about children provided by parents: retained only as long as necessary for pod matching and enrollment, and deleted or de-identified when no longer needed for that purpose or upon parental request
Cohort5102 is directed to parents, guardians, and credentialed teachers — not to children. Children do not create accounts, log in, or otherwise directly access or use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Parents may voluntarily provide limited information about their child (such as first name, age or grade level, and learning preferences) solely for the purpose of matching with teachers and pods. This information is provided by the parent, on the parent's own account, and is used only to facilitate that matching and enrollment process.
If we learn that a child has created an account or submitted personal information directly to Cohort5102 without parental involvement, we will take steps to delete that information.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:
Know what personal information we have collected about you
Access a copy of your personal information
Correct inaccurate personal information
Delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of targeted advertising
Limit the use of sensitive personal information
Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
Designate an authorized agent to exercise rights on your behalf

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, understand how the Service is used, and, where applicable, support advertising.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Depending on your location, you may also have the right to opt out of certain tracking through a cookie preference tool or a recognized opt-out signal (such as Global Privacy Control).
The Service may contain links to, or integrations with, third-party services, including:
Payment processors
Video conferencing or instructional platforms chosen independently by teachers (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
Analytics and communications tools
Cohort5102 is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage parents and teachers to review the privacy policies of any third-party platform used for instruction before sharing information through it, consistent with our "enables, parents confirm" approach to platform and curriculum choices.
Cohort5102 currently operates within the United States. If we expand internationally or if information is transferred to or processed in a country other than where you reside, we will take steps required by applicable law to protect that information, which may include standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a revised "Last Updated" date, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as an email or in-app notification) before the changes take effect.
