This Privacy Policy ("Policy") applies to Cohort5102.com, operated by Big Alice 3 LLC DBA Cohort5102 ("Cohort5102," "we," "us," or "our"), a marketplace platform that connects credentialed K-12 teachers with homeschooling families to form small, intentional learning pods (the "Service"). This Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy. The Service is intended solely for adults age 18 or older. Children may not create accounts, access the Service, submit information, or communicate through it. Parents may provide limited information about a child solely for matching, enrollment, and instruction, as described in "Children's Privacy (COPPA)" below.
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
Name, mailing address, email address, and phone number
Billing and payment information for your Cohort5102 subscription (Cohort5102 does not collect or process tuition paid directly to a teacher — see "How We Use Your Information," below)
Limited information about a child, provided solely for pod-matching, enrollment, and instruction — see "Children's Privacy (COPPA)," below
Messages, reviews, and other content you submit through the Service
Enrollment requests and acknowledgment records related to teacher credential review
Name, mailing address, email address, and phone number
Professional credential information (for example, teaching certifications, degrees, subject endorsements) that you choose to share with families through the Service
Pod and course information you create (subjects, schedule, pricing, pod size)
Messages and other content you submit through the Service
Most of the information above is information you choose to give us directly — for example, when you register, complete your profile, message another user, or purchase a subscription.
When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information whenever you use the Service, whether or not you actively submit anything, including:
Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, and timestamps
Log data: access times, referring/exit pages, and error logs
Approximate location: derived from IP address, for the purpose of matching families and teachers within relevant service areas
Cookies and similar technologies: see "Cookies and Tracking," below
We do not control, and this Policy does not cover, any data collected by third-party video, conferencing, or teaching platforms (for example, Zoom or Microsoft Teams) that a teacher independently chooses to use for live instruction. Those platforms have their own privacy policies, which parents and teachers should review directly.
We use the information we collect to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including matching parents with teachers and pods
Facilitate enrollment requests, teacher acceptance, and communications between parents and teachers
Process your Cohort5102 subscription payments (Cohort5102 is not a party to, and does not process, tuition or other payments made directly between parents and teachers — see our Terms of Service)
Send administrative communications, including account, billing, and policy-update notices
Respond to customer support requests
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
Comply with legal obligations
With your consent or as otherwise permitted by law, send marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time
Cohort5102 does not select, direct, verify, or endorse any teacher's credentials or curriculum. Consistent with our "Cohort5102 enables, parents confirm" model, parents are responsible for independently confirming a teacher's credentials, and parents and teachers are responsible for agreeing on curriculum and instructional platform directly.
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information or your customer list to third parties, and we do not sell biometric data to third parties. We may share information in the following circumstances:
Between parents and teachers: to facilitate matching, enrollment, and communication, we share relevant profile, credential, and pod information between parents and teachers as needed for the Service to function
Trusted service providers: vendors who help us with statistical analysis, email or postal mail, customer support, or payment processing for Cohort5102 subscription fees; these providers are prohibited from using your information except to provide services to us and must keep it confidential
Legal and safety reasons: without notice, if required by law or in the good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with legal process, protect Cohort5102's rights or property, or protect the safety of our users or the public
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard notice requirements
With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection
You have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) and certain other privacy laws, as applicable, to opt out of the sale or disclosure of your personal information. To opt out, contact us at privacy@cohort5102.com, and we will refrain from selling or disclosing your personal information unless you later authorize it again.
Subject to certain exceptions, on receipt of a verifiable request, we will delete your personal information from our records and direct our service providers to do the same. We may not be able to delete information we need to: complete a transaction or provide a service you requested; detect or prevent security incidents, fraud, or illegal activity; debug and repair errors; comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act or another existing legal obligation; exercise free speech or another legal right; conduct research in the public interest with your informed consent; or otherwise use the information internally in a way compatible with the context in which you provided it.

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, acquisition, disclosure, or use. In the event of a security incident involving personal information, we will promptly investigate and provide notice to affected individuals and, where required, to applicable regulatory authorities, in the manner and within the timeframes prescribed by applicable law.
The Service is intended solely for adults age 18 or older. Children may not create accounts, access the Service, submit information, or communicate through it, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child.
What we collect. Parents may, through their own account, voluntarily provide limited information about a child. Today, that is limited to the child's first name and last initial, grade level, and optional general notes about learning style or interests. That notes field should not include, and parents should not submit, photos, precise location, the child's school name, contact information, or health or disability information.
How it's used. We use a child's information to help match your child with an appropriate teacher and pod, to facilitate enrollment, and — once your child is enrolled — to let the specific teacher of that pod plan and provide instruction to your child. This is broader than matching and enrollment alone, because the same information continues to support your child's instruction for as long as the enrollment is active.
How it's shared. We share a child's information only with the teacher of the pod your child is enrolled in or being considered for, and with Cohort5102 personnel who need it to operate the Service, provide support, or ensure safety. We do not sell a child's information, use it for behavioral advertising, or share it with other parents, other families, or unrelated third parties.
Retention. We retain a child's information for as long as needed to support an active or prospective enrollment, and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping, safety, and legal-compliance purposes, after which we delete or de-identify it.
Your rights. As the parent who submitted the information, you may review, correct, update, or delete your child's information, or ask us to stop any further use or disclosure of it, at any time by managing your child's profile in your account or by contacting us at privacy@cohort5102.com.
If a child creates an account without a parent. If we learn that a child has created an account or submitted personal information directly to Cohort5102 without parental involvement, we will take steps to delete that information.
If this changes. This section describes a Service where children do not directly use messaging, video instruction, profiles, or other interactive features — those are used by the parent and the teacher on the child's behalf, not by the child directly. If we ever change the Service so that children use those features directly, we will update this Policy first and put in place whatever additional notice and consent mechanisms are required by law before children do so.
We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and depending on your location, you may have the right to opt out of certain tracking through a recognized opt-out signal.
From time to time, we may contact you via email with announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, or other communications. We may receive a notification when you open an email from us or click a link in it. If you would like to stop receiving marketing emails, you may unsubscribe by replying "STOP" or clicking the unsubscribe link.
We may store your data on servers provided by third-party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted.
We may update this Policy from time to time — for example, when our services, data practices, or applicable law change. When changes are significant, we will inform you by email, by a prominent notice on the Service, or by updating this page. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acknowledgment of, and agreement to, the modified Policy.
